Pack Harness
The Pack Harness featured below is made to the
South Australian-style, with the high-arched, fixed tree (a lower-arched
version, the Port Douglas-style, is available for packing in mountainous
or heavily-timbered country). The straw-packed, quilted panels are
designed to enable the horse to carry the heaviest of loads with the
minimum of discomfort. The photos indicate the pack saddle with
the breastplate and breeching only, and also complete with the Pack Bags
[made with best quality leather, and heavy, hand-made rings & dees], the
Swag Straps and the Pack Surcingle tying the whole load together.
The double girths [& connector] are designed to improve the stability of
the load.
